Celebrate Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month with us!

Veterinary Nursing Awareness MonthRegistered Veterinary nurses are there to care for your pet. Under their job title they have many responsibilities and varied duties. They ensure your pet receives the best care and attention possible. Nurses are with your pet every step of the way. It is for all their hard work we celebrate our Veterinary Nurses each May, as Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM). It gives our nurses the opportunity to talk about their role in caring for your pets.

Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) have undertaken a rigorous training programme and sat demanding examinations before qualifying. In any given day a veterinary nurse may find themselves taking x-rays, medicating patients, consulting, maintaining equipment, monitoring anaesthetics, dressing wounds, assisting with surgical procedures and the list goes on! Some RVNs undertake specialist training in a range of topics, especially the care of exotic pets, feline medicine, anaesthesia and dentistry.

The British Veterinary Nursing Association (BVNA) represents RVNs and promotes responsible pet care to the general public through Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month (VNAM).

When you visit the practice our nurses are happy to help and advise you on many aspects of pet healthcare. In addition, veterinary nurses usually have pets themselves, and love to talk about them just as you do!
